With us just starting the New Year of 2023, it is a great opportunity to reflect on the prior year and see what changes can be made going into the New Year. Whether you met your goals for 2022 or not there are always areas where you can improve.
For me, I always want to start the year with goals across different areas. They consist of a financial goal, health related goal, personal goal, and work goal. Below are each of my goals for the year that I am going to keep track of through 2023.
- Financial goal for the year – increase my net worth by 30%. I have been aggressively saving over the last 6+ years to put myself in a position to retire by the time I am 40 years old. For me, I don’t see a time where I won’t be some type of work but the goal is to be able to spend my time how I want and with who I want.
- Health goal for the year – get 8,000 steps per day and workout 4 times per week. My health has always been something that is very important to me. Being an athlete ( I played Division 1 college football) I have always understood how important it is to be in great physical shape. As I get older (will be turning 30 later this year) it is going to be that much more important for me to stay on top of my health. You can’t help others without first taking care of yourself.
- Personal Goal – read 30 pages per day. Learning shouldn’t stop once you finish school. The key is to find topics that interest you and start with that. From there you can start to expand to other areas. This is going to be a large focus for me this year as I fell off a little bit last year in the amount of reading I normally do.
- Work Goal – close six new logos and hit 150% of quota attainment. I work in software sales at a security company and had a great year in our fiscal year of 2022 where I was able to make Presidents’ Club. This goal will be known about half way through 2023 as we are not on a calendar year. 2023 will be an interesting year with the issues going on in the macroeconomic environment but I am currently about half way to my goal.
One other goal I have for this blog is to publish two articles per week consistently for all of 2023. This blog has been something that I have interested in pursuing for the last couple of years and I am making a commitment to myself to continually publish content.
Here is to the start of 2023 and I hope everyone is able to reach their goals for the New Year. Remember, “people overestimate what they can do in a day and underestimate what they can do in a year”. Stay consistent and stay the course for 2023!
